There is a good list of things that are safe for your bird as well as things that are bad for it in the following link viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12521 This is the best list that I have found to date and it is loaded with good information. The list starts on the second page of posts.
Beans, as long as they are fully cooked are fine for your bird to eat. Never feed him raw or undercooked beans.

The safest beans to feed are the small white beans because they are the lowest in a toxic lectin all beans have (it's commonly called red kidney bean lectin but this is only because these beans are the highest in it, in reality, all beans have it).

I always wonder about green beans. I know all the dried beans need to be cooked, but string beans seem so much like pea pods. Are they OK?

Yes, they are safe. All the 'pea' kinds are: green, French, snap, sugar.
