Fluffing during the summer

Postby Andy206 » Thu Jul 24, 2014 6:36 pm

Is it normal for sun conure to fluff during the summer? My conure just started fluffing and sneezing randomly. He's eating normally when I feed him but he is always fluffed now. I noticed he has feather coming in and has only lost 2-3 of the current ones. Please help! Should I take him to the vet? Thanks!!! :sun:

While it is normal for birds to fluff some when they are happy and content, even during warm weather, sneezing is not a normal behavior for a bird. So if your bird is sneezing and not copying you then it is indeed time to see the bird doctor.

They do fluff during the summer but only when they sleep (unless you have the bird in an air conditioned room at a vvery low temperature) so, if the bird is fluffed up during the day and he's sneezing, he's sick. Please take him to an avian vet asap.
