Now for Baby 'Zuess's' Update; He is eating very good[never a doubt that he would eat good] eating some formula about 5-7-mls.Not much but he seems very contented, with that.He is now learning that my hand is a good thing, and he has discovered toys[oh boy]-as you can almost see his happy face that he has discovered these things that are so much fun. And Mommie show's me how to play. And he just loves our bedtime together and yes when I start to feed conure's I will be still having our time together-I will make sure of that the conure, babies will be fed a lot earlier and then later when 'Zuess' is sleeping. He is trying very hard to talk to me and when I bring him out of his large cage he is a happy camper lol.He comes out at least 5-hours a day and sometimes more and we play on the couch. He runs up and down and I say peek a boo and he just squeels with delight. He thinks it's just great fun, that he's never had. And I still keep telling what a good boy he is and how much Mommie loves him. This baby don't have a mean bone in his body.I really hope I can make this bad breeder dissappear in his mind and forget all about him, and learn that people are still good to have around.I have just decided not to feed conure's as I feel 'Baby' 'Zuess' needs all of my time and attention as he's had a bad life this far and I want to give him what he needs, and deserves. After all he's my baby not to be sold by a breeder that don't have time to feed and train their own babies. All in all he's making excellent improved in the short amount of time I have had him.Got in on the 24th of July/2014.These babies are very intelligent. And I know he will continue to improve, and when he has his vet visit I am really hoping for an excellent report from vet[avain] specialize's in parrot's.I have a canary right beside baby 'Zuess' and he talks away to canary. He will talk to anyone I think. He is learning to have his voice. His feather's starting to look better and his eye's black. He had a little spray of arm water yesterday for a bit of a bath and just loved, loved it.Preened himself for quit a while.I want to get him a boing and a large swing and playtop for him as his cage opens at top but no playtop unless I make him one-which I think I will. Made them before and really quit crafty when it comes to birds. He likes to walk on top of his cage upside down and just thinks it's great to come back down. I can't believe how sure he is of himself in this short amount of time.ok, that's all for now stay tuned for more updates. river-7 :senegal:

Thank you for the update. It sounds to me as though all is well and that you know what you are doing and actually are probably more experienced than I am. Again thank you.

Hmmm, I might have misunderstood but it seems to me that you acquire unweaned babies from breeders, hand-raise them and sell them, is this correct?

Another little update on Baby Zuess= He is leaning to play and is climbing his cage and going in and out things- up and down and it's almost as if he seeing these things for a first time. Eyes bright, feathers well preened, and beginning to have a lot of fun.I bought him a lot of toys yesterday and soo many things and when I put them in his cage I play with them first and make a big fuss over them and he goe's right away to check them out.His cage is 32-wide 24-deep and very large. I am going to figure out this picture thing and will post pic's of him and his set up.As my daughter said 'MoM' that is not a cage it's a condo.I bought him some Herb Salad which are herbs for birds to eat to keep healthy and to heal themselve's if they are sick. And good for them just to eat to keep healthy.I have always let any bird I have had -have this salad it's all herbal and can not hurt them.My canary eats it by the cup full-If anyone wants to read the info on herb salad Avi-Tec makes it and it's on the net. Sorry I don't how to post a link. But do a google search and it's there.Only 8-days that Zuess came to me and the improvement is amazing. He's confident, alert and remarkably smart for his young age.I am very proud of him as you can tell.I bought him an orbit baby size and he's having a great time in :senegal: and out that it's in his cage and I have a stand picked out for him as he comes to the door and wants out now so stand is on order.I have a rope perch on his door and he sits on it when he wants to come out. Just amazing little guy. Stay tuned for more at a later date. River-7

I personally give it to them both cooked and raw, mostly raw but sometimes I give it to them grilled or baked. for the grilled or bakes, I cut it into large strips, basically quartered lengthwise and lightly drizzle it with extra virgin olive oil and grill or bake at 400Deg. F. or you can use the ovens broiler, you just have to watch it closely. ..when done let cool and slice the strips into slices and feed.

Thanks Wolf; Always good to try different cooking methods.Well day 8 today since 'Baby Zuess ' came to me and boy just in small amount of time the confidence he has is unbelievable. These babie's are so different from their counter parts ie; Red Bellie's, Meyers, ect;I was told that a Red Belly baby is the same as a Senegal NOT TRUE=they are very different.I had a Myers once and she was a real silly baby and not at all confident when I first got her. She used to roll herself up in newspaper like a package to be mailed away and have great fun doing that. All the birds I have had I think the Senegal is my favourite and the Alexander's. But if I had to choose between the 2-it would be the Senegal, hands down.Well I am going to buy Zuess a stand for him to come up with me most of the time.It is very tall about my height 5/8-so he can be with me and get his much needed exercise. As he is standing on rope on his door =so he's telling me he wants to come out and play.He put his head right down yesterday inviting me for a scratch. So I had to do it for him. I think his pin feathers are starting to grow and bothering him a little. He loves a bath and I have to get him something to bath in today. 3-days in a row he has been bathing. Just seems to love it. [Clean birdie lol] this week is very busy for me but I will try and keep up with his updates. I have a shih-tzu dog that has a bad ear infection=so vet today and I want to go and get Zuess his stand asap.Well just to let you all know my pet family consist of 3-small dogs Pekinese, shih-Tzu, chihuhauha.Leopard gecko, crested gecko and 2-bearded dragons. Dragons are both Leather backs. So I am kept busy most days . The only free time I have is after everybody is fed and cleaned in the morning. And bedtime in the evening.Stay tuned for more updates on baby Zuess. river-7 :senegal:

Sounds like you are doing everything right. Only thing I would have to add is to use cold instead of warm water for his bath (the warm water strips the natural oils from their feathers and skin).

I don't like the Herb Salad. The lady who put it together (I don't know if Avitech bought the rights to it but it was a lady who started it) claims to have been trained in herbalism but she could never provide with a name or an institution and no herbalist would combine so many herbs together. There are too many of them that can affect the kidneys in there and most of them are only used for certain conditions, they don't work as a preventative. The birds like it because it's salty and not because they are curing themselves with it. That's impossible. Animals do self-medicate but this is done only by animals which learn from older role models (like elephants and great apes) and it's always plants that grow in their natural habitat. A captive bird could not do this no matter what the lady (who has made a whole lot of money with this gimmick) claims.

Pajarita; I beg to differ on this one-I have used this forever and seen some great improvements in a few birds. My friend had a quaker that fell on his seed guard and cut his stomach,She spent thousands of dollars at vet and could not get this baby healed. She got some herb salad and this baby healed within 2-weeks. And the cut on his stomach had taken forever and was not healing So yes I-have great faith in this. I have used it for ever-and don't have no dead birds from salt over-dose.So guess when you see what it doe's it makes a difference. Thanks river-7
