Pajarita; Couple of Questions Please!!!

Postby river-7 » Fri Aug 01, 2014 7:15 am

Hi; I am wondering about raddicco [sp]and what properties it has for birds if any.And endive- I don't think it is nothing more then water but don't know for sure as I have not got that far yet. Appreciate any info you can help with. Being an old broad there is only soo many hours in a day you can research-not that I am lazy just have not got there yet. Thanks so much for any help you can give me and any others that respond with different veggies that you give or feed[safe of course] and your baby enjoys. Thanks to all.And question to you as well Wolf; I respect your bluntness in posts and therefore I respect your opinions.River-7 :senegal:Sorry do you think he's too young for chili peppers[dried] ??? thanks again :senegal:

Endives are relatives of escarole and are actually quite good for them (betacarotene, vit C, calcium, sodium, etc). I have to admit my birds don't get them often at all because it's very expensive and I have A LOT of birds so I end up buying the cheaper greens.

Radicchio is a relative of chicory and, although it's not high in the vitamins and minerals we usually look at when talking about nutrition, it's very high in antioxidants and vitamin K so it's good for them. Unfortunately, my birds don't like it (the canaries will not touch it for some reason) so I use kale, instead, which is also high in vit K.

Great; Thanks once again, and my canary eats everthing I give him. When I bought him I was told no veggies and no coloured seed; Don't know why but he loves his veggies and quinioa especially is his favourite. I was also told they don't play with toys[my first canary] And he actually bangs his toys with his beak and baths in ice cold water every morning and he's put on some much needed weight since I have had him[3-years now going on 4]-when I got him his feathers kept coming out and for the first year all I did was clean up feathers and it was not a molt just improper diet I think as I don't know enough about canaries but he don't loose any now and eats great and loves his food.He has a little black tuff on his head and I call him=Tee-Toe and he knows his name.sings like crazy every morning and in the evening. Great little guy. In all my years I never had a canary and found him to be a great little one, he was and is my first one so I have a lot to learn about him as well. Never to old to learn river-7 :senegal:Ps; Baby Zuess had a cold bath this morning I totally forgot about cold bath for the oil for them. :senegal:

Can Zuess have chili peppers or is he still too young??I bought him some but have not given it to him as yet. And this morning I think he remembered the syringe, and I also think he was forced weaned. He pumped away like a quaker would and had about 10-15-ml. So he was hungrey and finally remembered someone had given him a syringe feeding and then took it away. So he looked forward to it this morning and was waiting and calling me to feed him.I am happy that I can feed him.The good in his formula I think will help him along. His feathers are beginning to look very bright and clean and he's looking very happy for a little guy.He has an orange vest and it goe's to his vent so I am thinking male but don't have a dna; and don't care if he's female or male but I think male from what I have read. No orange on his tail, at all picture will be coming soon. River-7 :senegal:
