It's been a year or two since I've owned birds, but since I've been without a flock for awhile I'm starting to prepare for a new one. In the past, my parents had helped me care for my birds; they took care of buying the food while I was elected cage-cleaner and bird handler.
Here's my question: is Tofu good for birds?
Tofu was the main source of protein for my old conure, african grey, and Senegal parrots. I've never heard of anyone feeding their parrot tofu before... my parents used to cook it until soft, with spaghetti sauce/tomato paste for flavoring (we basically added it to our spaghetti dinner and picked out tofu for the birds to eat) and they absolutely loved it, though they weren't so enthusiastic about it without the sauce. We had birds for about 13 years, and it was very rare they had health problems.
Here's another question: what are good sources of protein for parrots? (other than tofu, I mean). And what do folks on this forum feed their birds? Curious.
