Getting worried

Postby Rebecca » Wed Sep 03, 2014 1:19 am

I'm starting to panic about how quiet my major Mitchell has been today. Usually she goes mad every time the door opens or a car pulls in the drive but today I've barely heard a peep:-( I had a panic on Thursday as she pulled the stud out of my ear and I'm worried she swallowed it as i cant find it so ive been monitoring her closely. She hasn't lost weight, is poohing fine, is climbing around her cage, eating her seed but no her pellets. Don't know what to make of it but now she's gone quiet its really got me worried:-(

Sounds like you need to get some x-rays done.

Keep your eye on her. I have found that when birds don't feel well will stop vocalizing (so much so that this is the first symptom an old amazon with bad liver gives me so I've learned to pay attention to it) so look for other symptoms but, even if you don't find any, keep your eye on her and, if she keeps quiet for the next two days, take her to the vet

She was back to her screeching self by dinner time and is currently having a conversation with herself in the mirror. She unfortunately has a thing for jewellry, my gold medic alert was her last victim, i never found the clasp from that either:-( The last Major I had died of zinc poisoning, I woke up one morning to find him say in the corner of his cage and he didn't know who I was:-( makes me very paranoid this time round, took me 15 before I could face getting another!!

I don't wear any jewelry when I have one of my birds out, because they like bright shiny things a lot.
