Budgie seems sick

Postby Tiellove » Sat Oct 25, 2014 9:59 am

My budgie Mango seems to have the same problem as this person did : http://theparrotforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13171

He is sitting on the lowest perch, and his feathers are fluffed. We had noticed the brown feathers on his head for about two days, but know I think that they are a problem because they aren't coming off. We also have two other healthy budgies in the cage, and I fear that they are affected too. Is there any remedy that I could do at home? Please help ASAP because my dad fears for the worst, and he isn't a big bird fan and thinks of giving them away because he doesn't want us to get infected either.

There is no way anybody can tell what is wrong with your bird with such little information, my dear. Put him in a cage by himself with a heating pad under it, put some bread and seeds at the bottom of the cage and get yourself some antibiotic from Petsmart or some other pet store and some liquid non-alcoholic milk thistle extract (they both go in the water) but, unless he has a simple bacterial infection, this will not work.

As a sidenote, he also bobs his head in and out as if he has something stuck in his throat.

His head is brown, but you can't see clearly in the picture
