Actually, unless I am looking at the wrong one, the CRI is 96 but it's still perfect if what you are looking for is a bulb and not a tube.

Thank you for the correction, I misread it. It is 96 CRI. I don't know which Liz would prefer but I believe that Chromalux also makes tubes and you can order direct from them I believe, unless I misread that as well.

Wolf, I know your time is valuable. I really really appreciate the info. It is now on order. So how do I delete out all my posts to clear up the thread. I kind of took over trying to help my babies.

I was meaning about my lack or technology knowledge that I can't even find my way on the web.

I have it ordered. Now how do I use it. Do I put it above the cage to shine down like sunlight or on the side of the cage? Do I give them a place to shelter from it?

I am not stupid, just ignorant of the things that Rambo has not told me.

Now you've done it. You've made a convincing argument to use full spectrum bulbs in addition to taking expeditions outside. And you've made it so easy to get the right bulbs, I'm going to have to do it. I can't deprive Corsair of seeing stuff in UV wavelengths just because I can't.

I am afraid to take my little dysfunctional flock outside in this cold weather. The flight cage is narrow enough to get through the sliding door in the summer. I put them out in the morning sunshine and partial shade in the afternoon but I bring them in before it gets to 80. They could probably take a higher temp with the breeze and shade but I don't want to take a chance on heat exhaustion.
We only have 2 months of actual cold but if there is a light I can use for those months that is good.
I try to keep their room at 75 both summer and winter.

Put the full spectrum bulbs in the ceiling fixture. Don't put them in a lamp above the cage or to the side of it (I personally know somebody whose tiel went blind because of it!). If the bulb is bright enough, it would work perfectly in the ceiling fixture and, this way, you know for a fact it won't hurt their eyes.
