veggies mix

Postby LJ4RockPebbler » Mon Nov 10, 2014 6:29 pm

What could I mix with my birds veggies to make them taste better and make him want to eat most of them. He likes pellets so I mix these in a little yet still he doesn't eat as much as he should. I read somewhere that some type of cocount flavoring could help. Any ideas?

I have used chili powder, cinnamon and basil so there are three flavors also I have used various fruits as flavoring.

You need to mix them with cooked whole grains and pulses, too.

Pulses? Any other ideas I can mix it with other than those that Wolf suggested?

You eat your veggies.
Myrtle and Rambo will try anything I am eating.
Sweetie :greycockatiel: watched me and taught the others what to eat. I am hoping that Shadow :greycockatiel: can take up the slack.

Pulses are the 'seeds' of legumes (plants that bear 'pods' but it also has to do with the flowers and the roots) like beans, peas, lentils, etc.

Try cooking some brown rice, barley and quinoa (you can find all these in a regular supermarket and, sometimes, wheat kernels, too) but not until they are soft and burst open, cook them al dente; add a can of small white beans (rinse under running water very thoroughly) and mix with sweet corn and peas and carrots for starters (chopped broccoli -it's sold in the frozen section- is great, too).
