It appears to be a normal thing, at least when they are just starting to learn that a thing is really food. Since some of mine are just learning this they do this regularly.
To wean Pod off of the Zupreem, you begin with a 50/50 mix of Zupreem and what you want to switch him to and gradually reduce the amount of Zupreem.

Yes, it most certainly is! Don't forget that parrots are seasonal eaters so they would eat and eat and eat the same thing until it's all gone and then start eating whatever becomes available after. I correspond with a guy that lives in Central America and he observes wild macaws and amazons feeding and they would all do that - the macaws more than the amazons, for what he has been able to observe because he says that when one type of mango ripens, they only eat this type and nothing else until there are no more and then move on to another type of fruit.
