As many of you know I had another thread about my sick Jenday conure JJ. He's 5 months old and was recently diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. The vet prescribed cephalexin. He had lost about 10% of his body weight initially. After the antibiotics, he stopped losing weight and even gained a couple grams.
Today I weighed him and he's down to 80
Grams from a healthy 117. This is a 10 gram weightless from just this morning when I weighed him. I tried to get a hold of my avian vet but he is out until Monday. I am concerned that he won't make it until Monday. I called every vet in town and none of the others know anything about birds.
I am soooooo worried because again with this weight loss I don't think he'll make it through the weekend when the vet gets back. His office is tryin to get in touch with him but no luck so far. I live in a small town and am at least 3 hours from any major city.
Is there anything I can do to keep him alive until Monday? Should I give him some baby formula? Thanks for any advice.
