When you serve a warm plate,I assume the food is cooked.Do you add any seasoning? You mentioned oatmeal is it uncooked?I have been trying for months since I got my CAG to get her to eat a variety of food but not having too much luck. She is funny in that she will take out of her dish a veggie or fruit and fling it.Seems to be trying to make a statement.

Warm food is usually also cooked foods and although they can eat oats without it being cooked, I would cook the oatmeal. You have a Cag and speaking from experience, she is tossing out what she does not like or recognize as food. The best way to convince them to eat or at least try a new food is for you to eat it first and in front of her. You can't just give in and offer any of it until she shows that she wants some of it. They are one of the most difficult to get to even try a new food. I have been working on mine for a year and still trying. I have had a few hard won successes. Just keep trying and never give up or you will fail.

I usually put oat grain in with their other grains. I have to buy more. I put raw steel cut oats in with their crushed nuts and cocoanuts for foraging. They clean their plates by the end of the day.

The grain really isn't cooked. I put a half cup of grains into a large thermal cup and add boiling water. Within 15 minutes the grain pops open and it is easier for them to get it out of the husk.
Warm food is not actually warm by the time they get it but it is above room temperature.

Britmon, that sounded awesome! Would love to know how or what else u put in the pasta. I have been meaning to get a pasta maker. I just don't know what to do... The only veggie Pod now eats is peas and that is sparingly. He loves most fruits. He likes blueberries above all else. I guess I will get the Tops but how on earth do I break him of his year long habit with Zupreem...? He loves it. :( I wonder if these birdie breads recipes that i saw someone mention somewhere on here could be used in replacement.... :(

My birds get birdy bread for breakfasts about once a week or every ten days so, yes, it can be used as a replacement, it all depends on how healthy you make it.

I have upgraded my cockatiels grain plate and added some that I had never heard of except in this forum:
chia
steel cut oats
couscous
lentil
kamut (whole grain wheat)
bulgur
brown rice
quinoa
I change variety of veggies every day. Tuesday I am going to add crushed chestnut to their dry mixture. It does my heart good to see the previous seed eater going at the grain like chickens. I have two feeding stations so they can all get what they want when they want.
Myrtle wanted some so I gave her a little bowl. She ate it all.
