Claw problem?

Postby c marvel » Sun Nov 23, 2014 3:46 pm

This morning I noticed this strange thing on Vest's claw. It looks like there is a break in the skin. He'll let me touch it and it doesn't appear to be causing him pain. This foot also has a yellowish tinge as opposed to the other foot which is gray in color. Is this a problem or is it normal?

Try reducing the size of the picture. But no this does not seem to be normal and I would take the bird to a vet asap.

There-I got it posted. See the coloring of his right claw in the picture? I had a time with the little guy taking this picture.

This is definitely not normal, it also looks to me that he might also have a lot of yellow where it should be green, but I cant tell for sure. Could you post a picture that shows a frontal view of his entire body?
Yellow is a color that is usually associated with liver problems, but again I am uncertain. It is also possible that this is a fungal infection. Regardless, I would strongly recommend that he be seen by an avian vet as soon as possible.

I think the photo I posted is misleading Wolf. There is yellow/tan under the two center claws and on top of one of the center claws. He laid on his back for me and I was able to get a good look. He sure seems unaffected. I will try to post another picture later today.
Yellow where is should be green--What do you mean?

Well, for one thing, Vest doesn't look like a boy to me, 'he' looks like a girl - but, as to the toes, does he have any yellow or orange colored toys or had he been eating carrots? Because it looks as if it's stained or dyed and not the natural coloration of the skin...

As to its been jaundice, parrots do get it BUT, by the time they do (and it's real hard to tell with any parrot except for the ones that have a 'naked' face like a scarlet or a B&G), you would have seen yellow/greenish ureates for quite some time so, unless his poop has been abnormal, it should not be from a liver condition.

Hey Pajarita, the full body picture is Kiki my Senegal and not theirs. They haven't posted a full body picture just yet.
