JJ is gone

Postby Hookturn » Wed Dec 10, 2014 9:16 am

JJ died in his sleep last night. I was just at the vet yesterday because his latest bloodwork came back and his glucose was still through the roof. I finally got copies of his test results and his glucose 10 days ago was 1257. The latest showed over 1300 even with the glipizide. The vet said that he had lived function issues and that he was consulting with other vets but they still didn't have a good diagnosis. He told me yesterday the prognosis "wasn't good".

I had a discussion with the vet a couple days ago after his latest blood tests came back that I would do everything for him ( we'd already spent over $1000 in just the last week which I had no problem with) but I wouldn't let him suffer for no reason. At least I take a small bit of solace in the fact that he didn't suffer with this for months. It still makes me soooooo sad. To compound things, while I was away last week my wife had to put down my dog and I couldn't even be here for him. He was a 13 year old Shepard rott mix I'd had from a puppy. He had a severe heart condition and about 6 years ago the vet told me to "say goodbye" because he would last a month. It's been a bad week and now all my buddies are dead.

Bye JJ. I Miss you.

This is a very sad morning. The little guy didn't stand a chance. You went above and beyond to save him. I am so sorry that you lost your baby. Since he was your only you don't even have another to console you. It doesn't help you any but I wanted you to know that I feel for you.

Just like loosing a human baby, you will have to morn and don't let anyone tell you different. I missed work for three days when my ferret died.

When you can, scrub up his belongings and put them away for a while. Not that it helps you now but there will be a birdie in the future who will need you.

Hookturn, I am so so sorry :( I thought things were looking up from your last post.
Just remember you did everything you could (for both of them) and they were loved- they might not have got so much care elsewhere.

Liz is right though, take your time with the grieving process. We are all here if you need to talk.

Ironically jjs probiotics came today. Just wish I could give them to him. He www such awesome little guy. Apparently God has more in store for him. Rip little buddies and we'll see you at the rainbow bridge. Thanks again to all of you. I will
Probably not be around for a while. If not take care of yourselves and your feathered friends. They deserve the best.
