I have had dozens of birds shipped .If you have them on a direct flight from where they are coming from to you, there is little stress on them. They pretty much fall asleep during the flight. The worst part for them is the time waiting for the flight.Keep in mind I am in Canada and use only one specific airline with animal specific climate controled holds.I cant speak to any other countries aircargo.

The OP is looking for a mate for her Jardines Parrot, I think she said it is around 2 or 3 yr. old and hers is a male. She hasn't had any luck finding a suitable bird in CT, where she lives. I know that you breed some Jardines so maybe you can help her directly of perhaps you know someone closer to her that might be able to help her.

I don't think he breeds Jardines, Wolf. He has a greater and a black winged so, although he has two, they are of different subspecies. And he is in Canada...

Pod is a Jardine's, a male. And, around four years old. Seems that breeders will ship. But, I cannot either find a female Jardine's or even a female Meyers parrot, let alone someone who will ship an adult bird to me. A very frustrating experience! Sure seems to be a great deal of other parrot breeds out there though (which i cannot have here in an apartment) such as African grey's...sun conures, etc. :/

Of course most breeders will ship! It's a business to them and the purpose of a business is to make money not to 'coddle' the merchandise.

It's a shame the guy in NY did not consider you. It was a perfect match.

It's like Occam's Razor. Would shipping a parrot, an intelligent creature, be stressed? Captain Obvious strikes again!

I think shipping a parrot would be so frightening for the bird. Best to pick it up.

Well, I'm at a point that I see no matter what the opinion there is no easy way to find out exact answers regarding birds/parrots on the web. Everything down to wing clipping seems to be split down the middle on all sites/info/forums. I would want to personally know the statistics of injury/death/serious obvious case of suffering from flight/plane a bird. otherwise, in my opinion, a few hours of stress (not too much unlike a long car ride stuffed in a box from a rescue or store in my opinion) that is compared to many years of a life that is healthier with a companion verses living a lone bird... seems worth it... especially with all the cause and concern on this forum regarding birds being alone is unnatural and unhealthy. HOwever, then there is the possibility of them not bonding and that would mean it was all for nothing...

Aren't they put in the baggage compartments. Those are not pressurized or air circulated. Not to mention the noise. I would not ship any creature.
