When I read "parrot recipes" I thought you were going to say something about how to serve parrot frances or some other delicacy made from parrot.

Well, I guess that could be a reasonable assumption as I understand that they are used for food in some parts of the world.
Just looked over the site. I think it is a great site, thanks for sharing it.

I don't know about anywhere else but they don't eat them in my country... everybody says that parrot meat is tough and greasy no matter how long you cook it.

Haha! Wouldn't that be a thing...even if i did find one, i dont think i would post it in the forums, for fear that somebody who felt their parrot wasnt being cooperative decided to eat it.

There are many jokes cracked about eating parrots in our house, especially when one is annoyed with another's parrot, but obviously we don't act on them.

According to my mom, who heard it from someone else, their meat is bitter.

Obviously, somebody did once upon a time and found out the hard way. My country was colonized with families from the Canary Islands mostly but also from other parts of Spain (lots of people from Galicia, also) and they eat little birds they catch with a net trap thing (Portuguese, French and Italians, too) so I am thinking somebody thought to try it with the local birds, got himself a nice, fat conure and discovered the bad taste - my father used to joke that the baby quakers my grandmother and I raised would work very well for a 'polenta con pajarito' (corn meal with little bird - the daily meal of Spanish shepherds).
