Took my two Sennies to the vet on tuesday, best avian vet I've ever met, I'd definitely recommend him. Anyways, he reckoned that I'd be doing my birds a favour to transfer them onto Harrisons Pellet (the best brand in UK, appartently), so I've got the one he said was best- high potency fine, the pellets are bout the same size as nyer seeds, so pretty small.
So far the birds haven't shown a great deal of interest. I'm going to spend a month trying them with it anyway. Yesterday I mixed a small amount of honey, a bit of hot water, the pellets and some porridge oats to make them into mini biscuits. One Sennie loved them the other was unimpressed.
Currently I'm just giving mixed fruit and veg in one bowl and pellets with the occasional nut and sunflower seed in the other bowl. If I can't convince them that pellets are ok (i've eaten one, trust me they're better than bran flakes any day) then I guess I'll just have to find something else to make them healthier.
Any ideas how to convince a senegal to eat pellets?
