6 month check up important

Postby lrhodes91 » Mon May 04, 2015 5:28 pm

Hi!

I know that the yearly exam from an avian vet is very important to do. Is it important to take your parrot to a 6 month check up also?

Thanks for all advice, support, opinions, & ideas,
Lyn

I may be wrong about this as I am still relatively new to bird keeping too. But unless you bird has had a health issue in the last 6 months I would probably wait for the annual exam. But if the bird has had any health issue in the last 6 months I would not skip the exam.

Wolf is correct, there is always a need for a follow up when there is a diagnosed medical condition been treated because you need to make sure that said treatment is working but if the previous wellness check-up was good, once a year is perfectly fine.
