This is just a suggestion and based solely on observation, but one thing I've found is that most birds do not like cold foods. Most of us keep fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator in order to keep them fresh. If you're feeding them to your bird and they immediately fling them aside try letting them warm to room temperature first.
My theory is -- especially with young birds -- the nerves in their beaks are sensitive to the cold, much like a sensitive tooth. Remember when you were little a tried to bite a Popsicle with those new front teeth?
Again, I have no empirical proof here. This is based solely on observation and trial and error on my part, but if your having trouble getting your bird to eat fruits and vegetables you might give this a try.
