Postby kannon » Fri Jul 24, 2015 1:34 pm

I acquired my CAG almost 1 year ago and her wings were clipped. She appears healthy. She has lost some red tail feathers but only 1 of her wing feathers.Am I looking at a period of years before she grows a new set back?

I think that it normally takes two molts to replace the primary flight feathers for these birds and we are approaching the start of a molting cycle or should be. The diet as well as the light schedule that the bird is living with has a major effect on this process.

Yes, Wolf is correct but age and when they hatched does too because, depending on whether they were born in or out of season, it's when they end having the first full molt.
