I give seeds and nut that are rich in omega 3 FA such as hemp, chia, flax and walnut.
They get to eat macadamia, almond, sunflower seeds and palm nuts for other source of fats.
Once in a blue moon I give them coconut flesh.

Palm nuts are a bit hard to come by where I live although I guess that I could order them online, I have never tried giving them coconut. They do get the other nuts on a rotating basis and most of mine also really like pistachio nuts.

Mine are not so fond of eating nuts. I grind them and sprinkle to soft food. This is the only way they eat nuts. Palm nuts are plentiful here. I don't have to pay a dime for them.

That is always a blessing, to be able to locate a free source of food for them. I can sometimes get free apples, if the deer don't beat me to them. I also have raspberries and blackberries. Dandelion is all over the place and since I am on six wooded acres and have plenty of ground that I can't mow, I sometimes gather immature grass seeds to give them.

Where do you get unsalted pistachios? I just found unsalted pretzels.

They sell them in the supermarket, Liz - at least they do in mine.

My birds LOVE their nuts! There is nothing they like better than a nut (well, maybe peanuts but they don't get those very often). They also get fresh coconut every now and then (I like it, too, so we share it :D ) They get flax and hemp, too - not chia (too little, too expensive and easily replaced by something more practical) but hemp is not given every day during the resting season and, right now, they are also getting sesame (high in methionine which is good for molting and liver cleansing).
