Worried about budgie

Postby RenLynn » Wed Sep 23, 2015 5:49 pm

Hello, I posted already about my worries but I came to the conclusion that my budgie was just getting used to his new home. Now I have had him for 20 days and he is still acting like he did from day 1, he just sits there on his perch kinda puffy. He won't play with his toys and rarely preens himself or makes a peep. I haven't seen him eat or drink today and I had to clean his butt today because there was poop stuck (maybe diarrhea). So I'm really worried about him and I can't bring him to the vet because I don't have the means. Also I should mention that I have been feeding him spray from my hand and he has stepped up, so this week I have been bringing him out of his cage. He looks healthy and I think he is 5 months old he has no bars on his head and has some new feathers coming in. I think I said everything, but feel free to ask questions.

Thankyou

I don't have the knowledge to help him other than to say take him to the vet as he sounds sick to me and probably is in need of antibiotics at this point. Sometimes the vet will take payments if you talk to them it is worth trying.

Yes, this little bird is sick and it needs to see a doctor. I don't think it's bacterial though because, if it was, the bird would be dead by now...

I have 3 credit cards. Two have been badly abused with the resent move but the third I keep clean for critter emergencies. They, just like kids, have bad timing and seem to get sick when I'm short on money. I keep the third one paid off as fast as possible for the next emergency.

Thanks for the advice, I ended up bringing him back to the pet store and getting a different one.

I understand what you did and why and I am not going to criticize you for your choice. I will say that you acted in the manner that you thought best for you, but not in the best interests of the bird. Because of this be prepared to receive some flack over this choice. Since you posted another thread stating you got a new bird that already has a reply to it I will discuss this more in depth with you in that thread.
