I have been reading nutritional value on nuts. it seems that brazil and cashew are the lowest in protein. I also find out that Rambo won't touch a brazil nut and myrtle does not like cashews.

I would switch the nuts and see if Rambo will eat the cashews and Myrtle the brazil nuts.

My pois both love Wanuts and of course they cant open them themselves, but I have done some research and found out that Pois and also other African birds often need more Selenium than other parrots. Africas soil is rich with Selenium, and when I researched wanuts they are high in Selenium so that may be why they like them so much. I think feeding them what they like for nuts is wise because it could be adressing their dietary needs.

It depends on the Nut and the quality of the Nut.

It really does ! I buy human grade unsalted almonds for my birds as they are their favorite nut and even there I sot through to remove the lessor quality nuts and then there are some of them that my birds will pick up and throw away. I have saved these nuts and placed them in a separate dish and offered them to the birds and none of them will touch this dish of nuts although I don't see anything wrong with them. I have even cut them into slivers and examined them and still can't see anything wrong with them. The end result is that I trust my birds and toss these nuts into the compost. Expensive and wasteful, but what else to do with them?

I have to use shelled walnuts. I stock up on almonds in this season. it is the only time I can buy them in the shell and they can open their own almonds.

Mine can open almonds and pistachios and I buy almonds pistachios and walnuts in the shell high grade. I eat a mostly raw food diet so I order raw nuts from a whole sale raw place. So my birds also eat sprouted nuts and seeds that I prepare for my meals, that includes sprouted chashews, almonds, hazlenuts, hemp seeds, chia seeds and oat groats and buckwheat.
