Critique my birds diet, thanks

First, my budgies... will only eat the pellets... though I keep trying to give them other stuff...
Second, I have stuck with zupreem because I cannot order Tops where I live. The budgies are free fed. And, man do they eat a lot... all day long!!! Oh, and they will eat some seeds that I like to give them by hand just for the experience of having them close to me. And, the parrot will eat the little seeds too...(((i cant remember what the heck they are called now))) My Jardine Parrot also gets free fed the pellets because I cannot be home in the evening all the time to give him dinner.
The following is what he gets after much trial. I'm not going to explain further my reasoning. Hopefully, I'll gain an idea if he is fairly healthy...(Like I believe him to be)(Plus he gets some exercise through some extra flying with the flight perches)
OOOKKKKayyyy, haha... In the morning, he gets two whole almonds, three pine nuts, two beans...usually lima beans, and eight peas. For a snack he gets one of his favorite three fruits which are blue berries, red raspberries or mangos. (three or four berries for the snack) Besides that... he will eat some banana. apple. once in a blue moon, some sweet potato. He will dive head over heels for pasta. But, will not touch any grains. Never has touched any leaf veggies. And, that is his whole diet.

The small seeds could be millet, but I don't know for sure. You might try giving the budgies some shredded romaine lettuce on a small paper plate on the bottom of the cage. And I would not feed the lima beans at all. I think the diets are way too high in protein so you will need to keep an eye on their livers at their yearly health exam at the vets.

No Lima beans? Ok. Thanks. I have been giving a little more variety...I.e., white beans and lentils. Are you mainly saying high in protein because of the free feeding pellets? Also, I tried Rudy bush. He hates it. I can see why. Those little pellets are hard and obviously without the sugar. I got some cranberries today. I read a lot isn't good but I'll see if he will eat a couple tomorrow. And I'll keep trying with grains. I've been trying to give the budgies domain but they won't touch it. Boy they sure like to eat though... All day long!

Although the amount of protein could present an issue with the amount of pellets this was not my reasoning. Many beans are high in a substance that is actually toxic to birds and even to us, this toxin is supposed to be destroyed when they are fully cooked and lima beans and red kidney beans are the highest in this substance. For the life of me I can't seem to hold the name of this toxin in my brain, but that was my reasoning.
For your budgies, have you tried shredding some romaine lettuce and putting it on a paper plate on the bottom of their cage? Mine love it when I give it to them this way and they went after it the very first time that I tried it.

The name is hemagglutinin (think of blood -hema- and agglutination -as in sticking together, which is what it does to the blood cells).

In my opinion, the diet for both the jardine and the budgies is way too high in protein because the greatest majority of their diet is made out of high protein items (pellets, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds) and, although you do offer the jardine some fruits, the range is too small and he is getting no greens whatsoever so the natural vitamin, mineral, fiber and phytonutrient intake is too little.

Well, I stopped the Lima and now alternate between white bean, lentil or peas. But peas are the only green he will eat. Are they not considered a veggie green? I like them too because they have vitamin a. There's only so much you can do with what he will eat. Last we spoke, Wolf, you said no more than two almonds a day. I decided on zupreem natural. I caved because I like them myself. The rudyboush in comparison are hard pellets. The outer hardness I didn't even like myself. But zupreem natural is also recommended by vets so I'm okay with that. :). Oh and I haven't tried a paper plate with lettuce. Will do.
