Dropping has too much Urine (2)

Postby liz8200 » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:44 pm

i used this board a while back for my Conjure. He has to much urine in his dropping.
I did everything I was told to do. I got all the tests and nothing came up on all the tests. Then one Dr said it was Anxiety.
For 3 years he has shown symptoms.I have found a bird specialist an hour away. I have an appointment this week.

Yesterday I was washing his bird cage really scrubbing and I saw where he had been eating his paint off the cage. I had not seen how much he had eaten off. I always saw him rubbing his beak on the bars, but I thought he was wiping off the food on his beak like he does with bananas.

I was wondering if the paint may be causing his excess urine problem? It's not like the whole bar has been striped of paint. It's like half of the bar paint is gone. And corners of his food doors.
I am so scared he is going to get sicker until I lose him. He has no vet anymore, and one other vet I wont take him back to.
The vet I am taking him to knows everything about birds. I think he will find the problem.
Can they heal a bird that ate paint?

I don't have an answer for you as to what they can do, but veterinary medicine has improved dramatically and is getting better all the time. With paint you need the vet to test for heavy metal poisoning, because of the metals that may be in the paint. And I do believe that some types of heavy metals can increase the amount of urine. Please let us know what the new vet has to say.
Yes, stress and anxiety can cause there to be more urine, but it would have been only at times oh high stress and anxiety, but not all the time and certainly not for 3 years. Foods containing a lot of moisture can also cause more urine but that is always only for a short period of time.

Wolf is correct. Polyuria (excessive urination) is a liver problem symptom (did he get a bile acid test when you took him to the vet?) and metal poisoning does affect the liver so I would have him tested for it, if I were you.
