So I made 4 quarts tabbouli as a way of coping with finals stress (long story) and now I have a packet of burghul I'm not likely to use again anytime soon. Apparently it's also called burgul wheat? Was wondering if I can soak it with other grains and give it to the parrots?
Sounds like you were anticipating being more than a little stressed out. ( humor ) I see no reason to not use it, and it is still considered to be a whole grain by the USDA.
I soaked it with a bunch of other grains and a few lentils, and according to my mom, the birds loved it. She theorized that Fajr gave her kisses instead of biting her for not taking him out when she dropped off breakfast because of the burghul. Not sure if that's the case, but yay! Another healthy eating habit.
Just looked them up. Somehow completely forgot that they're legumes. Back to cooking lentils with brown rice, then. I think I need to brush up on diet...the other day, I almost fed them spinach.
