I feed them all a fresh raw fruit, vegetable and leafy green and gloop in the morning for breakfast and for all day munching and then I feed them a good quality seed mix and a nut or two , depending on the size of the bird, for their dinner in the evening just before dusk.

Wolf wrote:No it is not. If you remember my first answer in this http://www.theparrotforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14913 I gave you a list of whole grains that you could use as a base for making your own gloop. If you take that list and go to the store and pick up a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and add as much of them as you have of the whole grains and then add some fully cooked white beans and lentils, probably about half the amount of the whole grains then you would have a good basic gloop recipe. Lets see if you have 3 cups total of the half cooked whole grains and you add 3 cups of the frozen mixed vegetables, after you thaw them and then add 1 1/2 cups of fully cooked white beans and lentils that would work for a basic gloop recipe. You would serve this mixture at room temperature. You can make larger batches of this gloop and divide it in plastic baggies into daily portions and freeze the excess and just pull out one bag each night before you go to bed and let it thaw out and feed it to your bird in the morning.

Afternoon: 1tbs of pellets, 1tbs of seed
It gets switched at lunch, im still working on her diet though. I want to get rowdybush pellets instead of vetafarm.

Wolf wrote:While what I gave you is a very basic recipe for gloop, please note that once your bird is eating it that you can also take and add other veggies to it so as to provide them with a different taste treat. for example I have been splitting mine into two batches and adding sweet potato to half of it. I have been trying to put it in the gloop by mashing it and mixing it in and most recently by cutting it into little pieces and mixing them in. I have also been adding some acorn squash in as another variation . It is a very good way to introduce them to other veggies that they are not used to eating. I also rotate what fruits and vegetables and leafy greens that I give them raw in the mornings along with the gloop.
