Oh, I didn't make that video. I was just using it as a reference.

I WISH I had a well behaved cat like that. I don't even have a cat. Unfortunately, my parents are allergic.

I agree. Cats are wonderful pets and very cute! I have ten of them now thanks to my husband, the 'cat man'. None of my children or grandkids are allergic to them... but then, they did studies that say that if you expose a child to a household of multiple cats/dogs from birth until they are 2 years old, there is 75% less chance that they will end up with any kind of allergy.

My mom must be part of the other %25, then. She grew up exposed to a whole bunch of cats. Not sure about my dad, though. He developed the allergy while we were staying at my aunt and uncle's house in Illinois (they have two cats).

I grew up around 5-6 dogs. That number slowly went down as each one succumbed to old age. Now I have an 8 pound spaz monster (terrier mix), who's afraid of cats, birds and bugs. Ironic, because terriers were bred to hunt small animals.
I had to stay at my sister's house for a couple days, and my dog was there with me. He tried to chase one of her cats, and the cat did so much as turn around stare at him, and before I knew it, he Was going the other way, making a loud, high pitch cry as if he was being attacked (the cat was nowhere near him).

Cat man and bird lady. what an odd pairing. I hope he's ok with your birds, at least.
I'm glad my boyfriend is ok with all my animals, no matter how strange they may be. An animal person trying to date someone who doesn't like animals would not work out well, I'd imagine.

Usually an animal lover and a non animal person doesn't work out, but then sometimes two animal lovers don't make a good combination either, depends on whether they can control themselves at least a little.

Well, actually, I like ALL animals. I already had three cats when I met him, plus dogs plus birds  so he can't claim he didn't know what our life was going to be  - but I got 'worse' once the kids grew up, then I got better and started reducing the numbers -which I couldn't do with the cats because of him. We had a bad snowstorm over the weekend and, as I feed feral cats (something he started by feeding one and then I got 'stuck' with feeding an entire colony!), he actually spent two hours shoveling a path so the cats could get to the little lean-to where I hide the food for them. Not only that, he heard a little one meowing from under a car the old lady next door has had in her backyard for years and he actually climbed over the fence in the middle of the storm so as to make a hole for him to come out because the snow had made a solid wall all around the car. He's a good guy! Of our animals, he loves the cats, the dogs and the canaries and he enjoys the cardinals and the finches but the parrots he mostly tolerates although he likes the ones that like him and insists those three are the only 'nice' ones I have  Unfortunately, his 'liking' them does not translate into the kind of devotion they need and that is bit of a bone of contention between us because I am always nagging him to spend time with them  .

My Mum didnt get to grow up around animals because her Mum hatesthem! Mum did get to have budgies though, because her Dad was breeder. My Dad always had animals and grew up on a mini farm sort of thing and has always loved Galahs . And together they used to breed Staffies.
Mum is cautious of dogs and parrots and animals that we dont know, but thats understandable, and wise I guess. She loves cats. Dad is pretty much fearless of any animal.. other than cats, he is allergic and thinks that they are just trouble .
I cant concentrate on what i was saying because right now Shrek just wont shut up! Oh well.

Well, he's not too far off by saying they can be trouble. One of my sister's cats likes to get into everything, and it's not like you can yell at him for something, because he's deaf and can't hear you anyways. They never did come up with a name for him, and just call him "white cat".

I was around all sorts of animals as a baby although not necessarily multiple. Why am I the exception? I'm allergic to most animals inc the birds. Rabbits, cats and horses are the worst though. I get by with a lot of management strategies, I do t think I could be happy without animals in my life.
