Should I use Kaytee's handfeeding formula for baby Senegals?

Postby Pseudorca » Fri Feb 19, 2016 12:46 pm

Hi guys

I'm new to the forum. Nice to meet you all. I have two baby senegal parrots, which I'm handraising. I don't know whether I should use kaytee's exact formula, i'm afraid since I've read bad stuff about them online. I have a lot of bad experiences with Nutribird's A21 Formula, as the birds grow slowly, frequently have blood in their stool and other awful situations. I can also get Benelux's BEVO Baby mix. If someone here is familiar with Kaytee's please help me.

Thanks in advance

Hi, welcome to the forum :)
About 1 1/2 years back we handfed and raised a :gcc: on Vetafarm handraising formula (all we could find at the time.) and did really well on that, I dont know if you can find that anywhere, because It was good.
I have not tried Katees or any other brands, but I do wish you luck with your babies :)

A few babies have died from using Kaytee and it was tested by a vet and they said that was the reason for the babies dying. It happened to someone on Avian Avenue forum.

I can't help very much in this area as all of my birds are adults and were all adults when I got them, so I have never needed to use this type of product. I did find this that you should read concerning this product and then use your own judgement concerning whether to continue using this product or to find another formula to use.
