She is not wiping her beak on a surface that is capable of cleaning off the scale. This scale is natural and is usually knocked off as the bird cleans its beak. Perhaps hanging a perch designed for trimming their nail attached vertically instead of horizontally near her food dish would help with this.

How could you attach a perch vertically? I know put it in from the top but if I done that she wouldn't be able to reach it.She cleans her beak anyway she has a nail trimming perch she stands on to eat.

Also why do birds chew the wall? Loki has a habit of biting a specific place on the wall and the pain is gone off in that area because she chewed a hole there and she just dosent listen sometimes when I say no and Rocko always listens when I tell him no.I did read that some walls have calcium in it and thats why she is chewing it is that true?

As for the vertical perch, I would either place a perch horizontally high enough that she could easily reach and use the vertical one for her beak or use an "L" shaped bracket that I could mount the vertical perch to the side of the cage with.

At one time the sheetrock used for inside walls contained calcium in the mix that is placed between the paper coatings, but I am no longer sure that the new formula actually have calcium, but much of the newer sheetrock contains a calcium like substance that can replace the calcium in the birds body but without the benefits of the calcium. But that is why they eat the wall, the other reason that they will do this is when they are looking for a nesting place.

I am glad that Loki has resorted to using a mineral block, it may help to stop him from eating the wall.

Sorry, the name Loki, is usually a male name and I do this enough that it is difficult to remember every birds species and sex, but I assure you that I meant no disrespect to Loki, by calling her a he.
