This is something that I have wanted to check into for some time now, but, my excuse is finances, being on a fixed income makes it difficult to come up with the money for the premiums. Still, I know that even if it is more than I think that I can afford that it would be easier than having to pay everything out of pocket.

We all really need to look into how we are going to pay for our birds medical expenses should we ever need to pay for a surgical procedure or even extensive testing and treatment. Avian vets are among the most expensive, rivaling those of human medical expenses. And then we need to put our plan into action, whether we keep a credit card for medical expenses or a savings account which we deposit money into every pay check or insurance, it must be taken into consideration and set into action and the sooner the better.

Sometimes, you might find a vet who is willing to work with you, but don't risk your birds life or health on it. Insurance is, for most of us, the best way to be able to meet these needs for our birds. I personally, urge every bird caregiver to think this through realistically and make a plan and put it into action, the sooner the better. Thank you, Stevenn21 for bringing this topic up.
