I would not leave seeds or nuts in his cage after he falls asleep. And, PLEASE be careful with bird mixes that have peanuts, they are never roasted and, in reality, you can't tell how old they are so they are never really safe. My birds get human grade, roasted, unsalted peanuts every now and then as a very special treat.

I would give him a couple of soft foods like polenta, couscous or pastina mixed with some chopped and pureed veggies as well as raw produce (one green, one veggie and one fruit).

I offer mine anything I eat that is good for them, on top of the chop i make. Today i made a sweet potatoe and egg salad, and because I baked the sweet potatoes they got some warm sweet potatoe as a snack. I had raw cashews, and fruit for breakfast so they got a little of that too.

I removed his seed/nut mix before bed last night, and I am honestly thinking of chucking the pre-made seed mix that came home with him... I'm not sure of the peanut quality, and I bought human-grade roasted unsalted peanuts from Nuts.com that I prefer to offer him anyway. Thanks for the heads up! I will also incorporate some couscous into his diet today, since I planned on making some for myself anyway. And thank you seagoatdeb for the recommendation as well! I really can't wait to get my hands on some sweet potato (and butternut squash!) to share with Kona. :)

With Senegals, they will often eat, fruit, corn or carrots first. if you can get them to try one of those and you eat with them, that will often work, and then you add another one.

It is often a matter of taking it one single step at a time, timing of when you offer the fresh foods and the willingness to eat and share food with your bird as well as a lot of patience.

I usually fix a leafy green, mostly romaine, a vegetable and a fruit for my birds that I sit and nibble on with them, first thing in the mornings before they get anything else. I also do this around mid afternoon or shortly after they wake up from their mid day nap and then just before their evening meal. I do not give them a piece of anything when they first start asking for it, I make them wait until they start demanding their share as this is how the parent birds do it, only they make the young bird take it away from them or they don't get any. They also learn what to eat by eating with you and seeing what you are eating, as the sharing of food is social and bonding time. The main reason that parrots in captivity do not eat much fresh raw foods is that they are not given them to eat when they should have been started on them and as a result they do not realize that the produce is food. It takes them a while to learn that it is not only food but that it is good to eat.

Adora practically begs for food when we eat. I try to offer her some. She takes a bite and drops it off. When she sees that's it's fruit, she won't have any, when she sees it's vegetable, worse. When she first came to us, she'd only eat dried corn and millet. I have so far gotten her to eat some sesame, boiled or scambled egg (shell inclusive) and rice. But that's how far I have come. I attempted to make gloop, but it ended in our trash can.

Thanks Wolf, I guess I just have to be a lot more patient :(
Do you add spices to your gloop recipe?

Sorry you're having a rough time of it, ms pato! Kona's more likely to try new foods if (like Wolf recommended) I eat whatever I'm offering him and make it sound like the most delicious thing ever, and wait until Kona's demanding it from me/trying to snatch the food from me before I offer it to him. Then he seems more keen on keeping his food *his* food.

Going to share some pasta with Kona today! I think I might have some diced butternut in the freezer from my sister's iguana, I'm sure I could pilfer some without her realizing... ;)

I do add some spices on occasion to the gloop that I make, just so they don't have to eat the same thing, that always tastes the same. I also vary the taste of the gloop by using different grains or vegetables in it and sometimes I garnish it with small pieces of apple or other fruit. No one likes to have to eat the same food every day.
