Ok, I keep trying to get you to use whole grains and to cook them only about halfway as the beginning step for making gloop for him, but for some reason this is not what is happening. I don't know why. Could it be that you don't know what to look for as whole grains? Please tell me what the problem is relating to getting him some whole grains so that I can help you.

If it is that you don't know where to begin try finding Kashi 7 grain pilaf it comes in a box and it contains whole grains. Fix it according to the instructions and then add some of what you made this morning to it. Maybe a quarter of a cup of what you made to the Kashi and then after it has cooled and you are ready to give it to him add a teaspoon of his seed mix to it.

Changing a birds diet is often a long process and needs to be done over a period of time. The way that the parent birds do it is to show the food to the young bird and then to eat it in front of them without offering them any of it. They repeat this until the young bird tries to take it from them and then they let it have some of the food. While you don't need to go that far you should fix you some of the same food and eat it at room temperature in front of him while talking to him until he is asking and begging you for some of it and then offer him a bite of his with the seeds in it. Then put his dish in the cage for him to eat.

The act of eating with your bird is not only a socializing event it is also a bonding activity so it is always a good thing to do and it will also expose him to more and different foods that you can share with him such as raw fruits and vegetables and it has the side effect of improving your diet.

You really don't need to keep making a new topic about this keep using this one and we will read it whenever you post in it and try to answer you here.

 Well, corn is always the first thing they pick out of the gloop so your bird's reaction is perfectly normal - only the large species that have been with me for a long time eat the green beans in the gloop and then, just one every now and then but, on the other hand, they LOVE raw sugar snaps and snow peas. It's like Wolf said, you need to give them grains, especially at the beginning of the transition. Beans are not really part of any bird natural diet, we feed them pulses because they are high in protein with no fat to speak of but none of mine would eat Great Northern beans although I think it's more the size than the taste of them because they do eat the Small White beans I use in the gloop.
