Help, leg injury?

Postby Anastaisyan » Fri May 06, 2016 1:36 pm

Need help guys. My pineapple greencheck hit a corner while flying. Some fluff missing but no blood. She looked like she broke it in the beginning but now she is able to put weight on it, scratches with it, sits on it to use other to scrach, holds food. But when sitting she sticks it out and limps. This morning i found her on the bottom of the cage which she has done before. But climbed using it. I thought it might have been a wing but she has no issues flying. What the heck did she do?

There are a few possibilities that come to mind right of. It is possible that she hit hard enough to bruise the leg down to the bone. it is also possible for her to have cracked the bone in her leg and despite using it she still may have broken it. I would recommend that she see a vet for x rays of the leg as she is in need of pain meds and may require more than this.

Saw the vet. She felt her leg and said she couldnt feel anything. Said she might bruised to the bone. But to keep an eye on her and give her anti inflammatory and see if she gets better next week. If not. X-rays. But for now doc think little one is ok. Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks guys :monk:

Good, I was hoping that it was not broken, and to some degree that is still up in the air as no x ray was done if she hit hard enough to bruise the bone then it is also hard enough to break the bone at least partly, it does not need to be broken all of the way through to be broken and they can still use it carefully. Keep me updated please. Sorry that I could not be of more help.

Ya thats what i brought up to the vet, but afcorse my lottle jackal and hide decided to have a lot of adrenaline and was doing flips, hanging upside-down and acting normal. The vet said seeing that she is doing that there can be a fracture but we should wait.... thank you i really do appreciate it.

I agree with the vet's assessment and if she was doing all of those things it is very doubtful that it is anything worse than a bruised bone. As fragile as a bird and its bones are if there were even a partial break, I am doubtful that it could withstand that amount of stress this soon. I am so happy for the both of you.
Let me know if I can be of any further help, please.
