Sunlight is full spectrum light, so if you and your bird use sun screen and wear sun glasses, it should be ok to put it on the ceiling.

If you put them in the ceiling fixture, they are completely useless for vit D3 production and real bad for their eyes because they don't produce any other light than UV.

I got an answer from zoo med on the specifications of their 'avian' light and it's no wonder they don't put them anywhere on the package or their site: the CRI is a very low 88 and the Ktemp is an OUTRAGEOUS 6,800!!! Any bird exposed to such a light for many hours will end up terribly hormonal! Again, the pet industry is NOT regulated so you can't believe ANYTHING the manufacturers claim about their products.
