I'll be thinking about you and he all day. I hope he's well, it does sound encouraging that he's still hanging in there! The rat poisons I'm most familiar with are anti-clotting which I would have feared would be devastating for a bird, so I am VERY glad to hear he is still among us!

thankyou so very much for your support, it means very much to me. I do fear for the worst as well.

what gives me hope is that he is still here with us today, he is still taking injections of vitamin k (i'm not sure if it has other chemicals in it as youve asked) every morning.

the thought of one pellet killing one rat, while Bongo ingested almost the whole box, is horriffic. the vet said the effect of the poison takes days before bleeding appears on the surface. it has been 4 days and still no bleeding. I read somewhere that it could take up to one month to see symptoms.

I am still praying, but very anxious. He often shivers which he never had before :(

He's also very friendly to strangers now, and kisses them on cue which is lovely.

Thankyou so much for your thoughts and support again. from :galah:

I hope all goes well with Bongo. I wouldn't worry too much about the shivering it is a normal thing for birds to do. After eating rat poison and now having injections Bongo is probably running hot and cold, the shivering is Bongo displacing air molicules between the tracts of feathers to adjust his body temperature.

Best wishes keep us updated.

I'll be hoping for the best as hard as I can. Perhaps if the box of pellets was very old, they had gotten somewhat deactivated. We can hope. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well as Bongo, this has got to be very difficult.
