Why Meat is a No No

Just putting this out there as I know a lot of people feed their birds *A lot* of Animal proteins and I also have seen lots of people give their birds egg food when breeding unless they are using it for calcium or want their birds to be more hormonal? I don't know however I didn't post to talk about breeding well anyway owning an Amazon I know it would be a very bad idea to feed animal proteins, usually people would give a large piece for the bird to hold which is a lot of protein in one piece for a bird and yes they would sometimes eat insects in the wild but thats different than eating a cow lol.

Yep, we have been saying the same thing for years and years. And she forgot two other points: 1) protein that is not used for vital functions or to repair/build muscle ends up in the form of fatty nodules in the liver, causing fatty liver disease. And 2) animal protein requires a different digestive process than vegetal protein and, as nature made the species of parrots we keep as companions herbivores (with the possible exception of vasas), she did not give them a digestive system that can easily and safely digest animal protein.

Thats what I have been saying and an admin on a Cockatiel group didn't agree with the article and removed the post so not to "Frighten other members" she said she has fed her Cockatiels chicken and other meat for years without problems but why even risk it?

Well, I would say that the site is not good - it's like saying: Don't post that allowing children to play with knives is dangerous because you are going to scare the parents! What kind of an argument is that?!

I found Myrtle in a dark kitchen chewing on a chicken bone to get the marrow out. She took it off a plate that had not yet been scraped. I had to chase her down to get it away.
