Cheaper humidifiers and air purfiers

I keep my bird in my room, which is about 10' x 12', because I don't trust our 100 pound puppy not to knock over it's cage or just stress out the bird by staring at it.

I've spent a total of $1000 just in the last 3 weeks for the cage, the bird, and essentials like quality pellets and sturdy starter toys.

And the more I'm reading, because I'll admit, I'm learning a lot as I go, the more I defintely want to get a quality humidifier and air purifier. I went online to research and found the best one to be $900.... that's more than the bird! Right now I'm doing the plain old, large, shallow body of warm water to evaporate for humidity, and it's spring so I'm keeping my window open pretty much all night and day, which gets good air circulation.

But in Ohio, winter starts in late August, so I know I'll need to invest in something quality if I want to have a happy, healthy bird.

What kind of purifier/humidifier do you have? I only have a Senegal that doesnt seem to create too much dust, so I don't think I'd need a heavy duty $900 one, I'd just like something that gets the job done and is relatively inexpensive.

$900 sounds like overkill! I got a $90 humidifier but I have one giant room so it only gets the relative humidity up to about 35% from 25% but that's enough to go from too dry to mildly comfortable. In a small room like yours I'm sure it would do great. It supposedly filters the air some too but I wouldn't rely on that. I have several air purifiers but I found that some are more effective than others. I run the quieter ones all the time and the noisy ones when I'm not around or especially if I take the parrot out some place. Those air purifiers ranged from $60-$250 each. So I'd probably recommend getting one humidifier and two air purifiers: one that is quiet and you can leave on always and another that is super powerful that you can run to vent the room when you take the parrot out.

Could I bother you for the model or at least the brand that you have? I'm okay with a noisy purifier to be honest. I like a lot of white noise, and even sleep with a white noise machine.

I'm going to have to do an article about my air purifiers cause I've sampled many but overall here's the most effective one in my opinion:

Not sure this is the exact same model or price but this is exactly what mine looks like.

However, be warned that on a high setting it sounds like a noisy air conditioner full blast. On low it's reasonable. It sucks air in from all sides so I think it is quite effective at pulling dust out of the air. The best place to place it is in the middle of the room.

This is the humidifier I use:

The biggest drawback is you have to refill the water tank daily but you know it's working when that gallon+ tank evaporates in a day. I gotta look on my units to identify the model numbers but I'll be sure to write a review of them in coming days so stay tuned.
