We brought home my husband's family's bird this weekend to live with us permanently. He is an African Gray timneh and about 40 years old.
He's doing great, adjusting well and seems to be himself at our home. However, every night his left leg goes into a cramped state and stays that way for several minutes. The first time i saw it happen I massaged the leg until it got stronger and he was able to prop it back onto the perch. He was pretty much helpless until it passed.
I've made a doctor's appointment but he won't be seen until February 19th. I'm asking if anyone has had similar experience and if there's something we should be doing differently with him until he is seen. I'm wondering if it is a deficiency or an excess of something he's eating?
My husband asked his brother if it ever happened while he was at their home but he is traveling and hasn't responded.
