Parakeet Beak/Face problem

Postby asdfgrt » Tue Apr 24, 2018 5:35 pm

A few days ago I noticed that my bird has this strange malformation near his beak. I do not know what it is, so I decided to post some pictures here hoping that someone might tell what the problem is and what should I use. Thank you very much!

Sorry I did not reply earlier. I had no computer for a few days because Javi Caique got into the drawer where I keep the charger for my laptop and chewed it in half so I had to order a new one.

It's hard to tell from the picture because although it shows what it looks like, it doesn't show how it feels and that makes the difference between scaly face mites and something like a tumor... But, in any case, I would take him to the vet because even if it is something as easy to cure as scaly face mites, you would still need the right parasiticide at the right dosage for it. Now, if it is, indeed, mites and the vet gives you medicine, make sure you use it for three weeks and not only two as the vets are prone to recommend. I would use Ivermectin for something like this and, if you do, you need to do it once a week for three weeks.
