Learn all about how good beets really are! [Especially good for captive parrots as they are great for fighting depression and anxiety!] Also, remember that they can be eaten both cooked AND raw.

I wish I liked beets.

I always found root vegetables an odd thing for a bird to eat. It doesn’t seem natural. Some of the bigger birds do seem to like turnips, beets, radishes, etc. it just seems odd that they would. I guess they all love sweet potatoes, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

I love beets! And my birds do too - even the canaries! And I do hear you on the root veggies not being a natural food for a bird but I guess it must be that I have been feeding my canaries carrots and sweet potatoes for so many years that, by the time I started keeping parrots, I did not even think about the 'unnaturalness'.
