new budgie mix contains food colouring good or bad?

i am trying my budgie on a different mixure than plan budgie seed it has seed oats vitimate bites chick peas and dried fruit but the oats and some seeds are coloured, i have noticed a big difference in the amount on energy he has but im wondering is this because of more nutrience or more likley caused by the colouring in the food? he does also get fed on fresh foods but that was in his diet before i started noticing the changes after changing is 'staple seed mix'
