In an attempt to encourage Scooter to eat some pellets, I've adopted the following strategy: a layer of a locally packaged seed, grain and extruded mixture (no sunflower) with a layer of Roudybush pellets on top of that and a layer of Nutriberries on top of that. It's a sort of a foraging exercise, or at least I've deluded myself that that's what it is. The Nutriberries are mostly ballast so I may ultimately replace them with clean stones or toy parts or something. I feed this more or less free choice, although the seed component often runs out before I replace it.
He also gets fresh fruit and vegetables daily, and he quite enjoys his fresh food.
So far I'm not doing any cooking and table scraps are actually fairly rare.
