Dana, I really do think you are rushing this decision... I am not trying to do an "I told you so" but I did warn you would have trouble if you did not keep them at a solar schedule and a good diet and you did not want to hear it then so I am afraid you are doing the same thing now. I mean, have you even been there already to check this place out? Are they a 501(c)3? Are they an accredited sanctuary? Do they have corporate sponsors or a grant? Are they asking for a donation for each bird? Because the ONLY sanctuaries that are any good ask for a couple of thousand dollars for each bird (places like Foster Parrots, The Oasis, etc) or have HUGE fundraising campaigns (like Best Friends). Also, you know there are real bad tornados in North Carolina, right? What is the sanctuary protocol in case of extreme weather? Do they even have enough indoor aviaries or cages for all their birds? Would they be able to catch them all to put away safely timely?
Please, please, think about what you are doing very carefully because, once the birds are there, that's it for them!
