This is meant for humans but it's perfectly applicable to parrots and, the fact that most people think that feeding pellets (a parrot food that is extremely unnatural in terms of moisture content versus their natural diets) makes it VERY relevant. Note: lack of proper hydration is the number one reason parrots end up with kidney issues -and you can treat a liver but you cannot treat a kidney!

Yes, fresh fruit every day is a must but it needs to be rounded up with other food items. We once had somebody here that asked why his/her parrot had died and, when we asked what the bird was being fed, the OP said fruits and, every now and then, a chickpea puree so the bird had most likely died from a lack of protein (muscles need protein and the heart is a muscle) or a severe lack of calcium (which muscles also need).
