From the comments on youtube people seem to be worried the water's too hot and the bird looks scared? I have no idea, doesn't look bad to me either.

The bird may sooner be scared of the camera than the shower. The owner said it likes it.

That bird doesn't seem to mind the shower. If it was too hot I'm sure the bird wouldn't just sit there.
Marvin takes showers about the same as that bird, he just sits there with coma face. :gray:

Hmmm I posted an entire comment about the shower thing yesterday and it did not show up. Weird.

guys..relax..and think about this for a minute...

I found this to be kinda adorable...and liked the way the parakeet was allowed to explore...
My parakeet likes to do it..except in the kitchen(he doesnt like the sink where i give him baths or clean his feet of something I dont want on them, and since i dont take him in there often)

Often onto plates,or something that got a high enough rim to perch;
anyway,I like to have him know and watch when i pour stuff since the noise of liquids being poured seems odd to him
from milk to soda.(especially soda since it catches him by surprise when i open the can)

Once I brought this "blue moon" glass(a tall beer glass my dad bought) near his perch and poured some "Pepsi" in it and went to get the water filter thing and some ice.I found him standing on the half filled glass looking in and at me(adorably I might add) and I cooed to him, about it and asked if he was planning to "add" something to it himself :P ; then poured the water in while he was on there, and as the soda rose he jumped off and flew to the perch and started to shake him head, and when i tried to put him back on he shook his head again and it seemed the fizz was not agreeing with him.

So I argue that while the parakeet was close to it enough to drink, he wouldnt and if you watch again,or try smelling a fizzy beverage you'll see no parrot in it's right mind would want to take a sip till it was flat.

I'm not defending him letting the budgie close to something hazardous,(I'd never let mine even close enough to take look of that alcohol), but as to how dangerous it really is in that scene,as opposed to how healthy and happy the parakeet is to not be fussed over on little things and allowed to be curious about the foam .I'm a bit biased I guess, after seeing the rest of his videos he seems to have a good idea of how to take care of it in more than just physically.

As I would to any one who'd let his parakeet sit on his face for 5min for it's own amusement, being the owner of a budgie who likes to explore my body for places to sit from ears to feet.

Out of all the videos in this topic that have made me cringe or smile through my teeth, this budgie on beer glass one wasnt so bad. ;)

I guess I'm continuing from my post about the guy who used his budgie as a beverage ornament inplace of...like..an umbrella...cause my windows auto update needed to restart...

Michael wrote:to "TheNzJesse"

Pretty bad but not as bad as the guy who was feeding chewed potato chips to the parrot out of his mouth!!!!

I also feed my parakeet toast, sometimes even with jam on it(though i use my hand to expose the soft bread instead of my mouth),While the best way would be to peel and pick the best bread from the toast and hold it near him to eat I treat my budgie as a buddy not a child who can only eat and play with and/or around only what I sanction as acceptable.

The only times i'm restricting is when I need to be:
1)where there's a more than great chance of harm comming my budgie when I'm around.
2)If there's even a slight chance of harm when he's out of my reach/needs me.
(I place him on 1 spot in every room of my house,I want him to fly to if he ever gets scared, even the garage so he doesn't end up behind or on something i cant get him from).
But I want him to be curious, and pick at wires if he finds them colorful, and let him be, even if he''s standing on my plate eating rice and in danger of waddling into curry.

I still want him to call for me after..say his perch falls over and get angry at me when i don't show up.
As it did once when he and my sister's parakeet were roughhousing while i was helping unload some grocerys(though my sister's parakeet, who's been around for 5 years, ran to me after this happened to alert me,since i was obvious)
But,I dont want him to be so dependent on me he cant be held by others without me there or,being flighted, rushing to me when i walk into the room. I guess what I'm saying is there are times when being careless is deadly, and I check and make sure everything's ok before i leave the room and check on him often afterwards, and not have him out when cooking,or showering,etc..

But you need to let you parakeet be a bird and free to do what it wants(when it's safe that is)and not be mortified to new things including toys which could provide it of enjoyment it needs, so it doesn't end up only being content when left alone to perch on it's favorite spot and screech when it's bothered, like a spoiled brat.

Especially in my case, why have a flighted budgie when he only wants me carrying him, calling or flying to me to take him where he wants to go(even if it's like 3 feet away),and only flying when frightened or annoyed.

So if your parakeet is trying to do something and maybe sitting on the tv,or walking under a table, just watch it and be aware.

And think about this parakeet's mental well being,in the videos.

Just because I wouldn't let my budgie anywhere outside his cage to cook or even go in the kitchen most of the time doesn't mean other owners letting their budgies in the kitchen or on their shoulders and counters while making some thing is a bad thing...it's probably(assuming they arnt frying up some smoke)better and more of a benefit to your bird's behavior,I just know I'd never pull it off.

Are you kidding me?? It's like letting a toddler play with matches because you think they don't know how to start a flame with them. Also, did you consider when you left the budgie unattended with the blue moon glass that if it slipped it could have fallen in and drowned? This impetuous disregard and negligent mindset is quite troubling to me.

lol well if you're with the said 'toddler' or parakeet and make sure they're not hurting themselves maybe..

and as for theImage blue moon glass.TYou cant predict every little thing, here's a story:
a parakeet forum post wrote:Tonight while we were eating dinner, my parakeet Pika was having dinner with us, and we were eating soup. Pika walked over to me, and then she tried to get into the soup bowl to take a bath, then she started taking a bath in my soup, and so that was the end of my meal.

User Question on same site:

I have an 8 month old parakeet that will only bathe in his seed dish - how can I stop this?

I'd have to agree with you that drowing would have been possibleImage..but I had left the glass in sight of him about 3 feet from his perch..I hadnt expected him to jump to it,but I have been flight training him :hatched: (he's gotten good, though he's still uncomfortable over large distances).

I cant spend every waking moment worrying about him(to the extent I actually do something about it),or restricting him from things because they might on an off chance end up hurt him.I have made changes to serious threats like frying hazards, like using my grill for those things big meaty foods, and closing off the room he's in from the rest of the house.

I'd just rather enjoy my budgie enjoying himself rather than just his presence...also I suggest you not read my post in the parakeet section..on account of your weak stomach Image
