Hi all!
Recently I was told that lovebird saliva can be toxic (or even lethal) to other birds due to a specific bacteria that grows in their mouths, and it was recommended that I not house them together for this reason (among many others!).
While I do not intend to have my newly-acquired lovebird and 2-year-old cockatiel share the same cage, I am certainly looking forward to supervised playtime, shared meals, and general interactions between the two.
Has anyone else heard this claim and, if so, is there any truth to it? I tried doing some research but was unable to find anything saying as such.
Thanks!
