well since skeeter seems to have been having trouble with his wings being handled only when he has his harness on i thought well maybe if he found a more yummy treat that is more unique like a special treat than he would ascociate his wings being touched while in his harness with a yummy yogurt treat well guess what?! he's scared of yogurt! when i first brought it up he backed away and tasted it and shook his head and wont come anywhere near it! oh well birds

I don't think yogurt is ok to feed parrots. You should really stay away from dairy. I think long aged/processed cheese is about the limit of what they can handle from dairy.

Actually my vet has said small amounts of lowfat, unsweetened yogurt are OK. Yogurt, even more than aged cheese, is pretty much pre-digested.

it was low fat and well its just a little bit and he doesent like it anyway so what the heck

Many breeders use a small amount of yogurt for chicks that have to be handraised from day 1 as its used to furnish bacteria to help the chicks digest its food. If the chicks have been feed for a few days by their parents then yogurt isn't required.

So yes Yogurt is Ok but not required

I think the main factor is the type of yoghurt? Definitely stay clear of the bio-live yoghurts that have live bacteria in them? I am sure parrots don't need those bacteria in them...

If it´s probiotic bacteria you mean, then it´s very good even for parrots. You can read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probiotic. When one of my birds got sick last winter and was treated with antibiotics the vet recommended that we also should give him probiotics (yoghurt or juice with probiotics or http://www.vetark.co.uk/pages/Avipro-Plus_4.aspx) to help him restore the good bacteria.
