A new study has shown that, when birds are faced with food shortages, they can lower the temperature of their bill (beak) so as to conserve energy (aren't birds just amazing?!). The study was done with great tits which is basically a temperate climate bird so I wonder if tropical or semi-tropical parrots do this, too...
