Leaving 9 MO Parrot for 2 nights ok?

Postby Niraj » Tue Jun 16, 2020 8:42 pm

Hello there,

I am planning to go out on a two night trip with my family. I have fully weaned indian ringneck parrot who is 9 months old and well socialized to my family.

We have never left him alone for any nights, he is very well socialized with us and he just love spending time with us. I am wondering if he will be ok to be on his own with fresh veggies, pallets, seed and some treats in the cage.

We leave his cage open and we have a bird gym next to cage which he use to play all the time and sleeps on the gym sometime. And goes to cage to eat, drink and spend some time on his favourite perch.

I am happy to leave the cage open so he don't get frustrated. he will surely walk around to look for us he knows our bedroom etc.

Is it ok to leave him for 2 nights?

Thanks,
Niraj

No, it is not. A human home has 2 million unsafe things for a small bird. No bird should ever be left alone for more than a few hours at a time and always in a safe cage. Parrots are like children - would you leave a child alone in a house for two days and two nights?
